In the mystical kitchen of our minds, thoughts represent scrambled eggs, unorganised and well… all over the place. To progress, we have to figure out a way to unravel it and weave it into a chef’s kiss of an omelette. This post is about a methodology I have been integrating to make this process… eggcellent.
Being constantly reminded that I have a background in computer science through the never-ending river of coursework, I have started to realise that I started missing out on “tangible” activities. Computer science is generally intangible, meaning that most of our work does not quite have a physical sense. As cliché as it sounds, too much of typing behind a screen makes you lose sense of reality. It did indeed get too much once I started digitalising nearly everything I do, from reading books to jotting down my ideas on a digital notebook. The advantages are indeed the convenience and the ease of access, but I realised that my brain sometimes needs the switch back to old-school. I have recently invested in a notebook and have used it as my go-to for when it comes to nearly everything and have noticed a great peak in organisation and focus when it comes to planning things.
Sometimes, old-school just does it better. I obviously do not suggest going analog for everything, coding on paper does not sound as good. My advice would be to balance it all out!
