The general public downplays the adversity of writing. The frustrations of trying to wrestle your thoughts out of your brain; adjusting them in a manner to facilitate the ingestion of information; ensuring that they are supported by pillars of purpose; gift-wrapping the product to guarantee that someone is willing to give you the time of day to read what you write.
The more I wrote, the more I gave credit to other writers whom have mastered this craft (I still have a long way to go). We all tend to downplay matters we have not had a taste of. I was even guilty of this. I gave woodworking a shot one time after discussing it with a family member who has experience within the industry. I never really paid that much attention towards wooden products until I had a go at it myself. It was difficult, very difficult. The ideas I had seemed so simple yet they required a lot of precision and tools. The experience taught me to give credit to all the miraculous wooden products around me that seemed simple, but very complex to make.
I have a task for you, look around. The device you are currently using can be an example, do you know how the screen works? Ever thought about how I can just write something, and you can read it from across the globe? Perhaps, even the place you are currently in… It was all an idea once that took a lot of effort for it to be implemented. Skyscrapers, cars, planes… The examples are endless. We utilize things everyday without really knowing how they work, thus disregarding the effort it took to make them work.
If you are up for a challenge, try something you have never done before. Something that seems simple enough but is actually complicated. Give it a shot and document the process. It does not have to take a lot of your time either…
I would love to have a guest post where a reader can become the writer for the day and convey a story or teach the audience something new, this will allow yourself to dip your fingers into blog writing! If you are interested, send me a direct message on Instagram (@bintaryam.alz) and we can organize something for a future blog post!
The main point of this blog post is to recognise the hard work people put in towards what they do. I am personally not asking for credit towards my own writing, this was an example I was most familiar with. I only request for credit to be given towards the shows you may binge-watch in a day which may have taken years to produce. It could be a book of lessons that were perhaps compiled over a lifetime or it could be people who built the infrastructure you use everyday.
In conclusion,
Recognise the hard work around you and start giving credit when it\’s due!
*Just a reminder, if you would like to write a blog post… Send me a message on @bintaryam.alz on Instagram. Have a good day!
